Charity Quiz at the The Doggetts Coat and Badge

Charity Quiz at the The Doggetts Coat and Badge

Iain

We headed down to The Doggetts Coat and Badge, South Bank, a short stroll over Blackfriars Bridge

The quiz was a charity event held on Thursday 15th of November, raising funds for The Lord’s Taverners, the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity.

Having never heard of The Doggetts Coat and Badge prior to the Quiz, I was intrigued about the name. It turns out it is the pub is named after a race that takes place on the Thames, originally organised by a chap called Thomas Doggett. The winner receives a ‘Coat & Badge’ for their efforts, hence the name ‘The Doggetts Coat and Badge’.

The questions were of standard fair, although with a particularly tricky Arts & Literature round thrown in, and a rather dodgy ‘2012’ round, consisting of 10 obscure questions about the London 2012 Olympics.

Unfortunately we didn’t win, coming second last, by half a point. But we raised some money for Charity, and had a giggle along the way.
